Funny thing, about memory...

The other night, in an irc chat with indefatigable42, I was trying to remember what movie or oldtime television show I had watched, recently, and thinking, as I watched it, that Old School Who fans would love it...

Just now, as I was a book back onto its spot on the shelf, I realized that I wasn't remembering a movie at all, but, rather, my recent reading of The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

You see, the author was inspired by the silent films of the early Twentieth Century, and the long passages of pure illustration in the book progress as if they are actually distinct camera shots in a movie.

And it was an a movie that my brain was remembering it.

... I just wanted to get that out before I forgot it.

I'm shaking with yawns, now. I'm going to bed.

I've made that mistake with more Who novels (and fanfics) than I care to admit. Some of them capture the tone of whatever era of the series so perfectly that it all mashes together with the genuine article in my head. Gareth Roberts is a particular offender in this regard.
