The "Lost cold open" from the Late-Late Show ft'ing Matt Smith:

(The one where Craig Ferguson wrote a filk over the show's theme tune all about the show)

Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] alto2 for putting it up in her journal so I could see it, and pass it on to you.

(I'll try to write up a full transcript, eventually. But doing it in all one go will probably break my branez. So I'll come back throughout the day and ETA bits and pieces).

Let's just start with the lyrics to the song, itself:

Craig: In 1963, the BBC premiered a show about an alien
Who traveled through space and time to combat powers of evil --

Rabbit Puppet: He is a force for good in a vast
And uncertain universe

Craig: You are correct in your summation of this character,
My profane rabbit friend!

Robot Skeleton: [spoken] Ooh! Tell me more!

Craig: The show has been running in Britain almost 50 years,
With many different actors in the role of the Doctor

Alligator puppet: The Doctor doesn't die,
He just regenerates.

Craig: The alligator speaks the truth!

One thing is consistant, though,
And this is why the show
Is so beloved by geeks and nerds:
It's all about the triumph
of Intellect and Romance
Over brute force and cynicism
(Intellect and Romance
Over brute force and cynicism)

[chanted]: And if there's any hope for any of us
In this giant explosion in which we inhabit,
It is surely that:
The triumph of Intellect and Romance
Over brute force and cynicism.

[pauses, takes breath]

[spoken]: Right, Doctor?

Matt Smith: Absolutely! [double thumbs up]
