I just want to take this time and space to give Gordon a public "thank you". I don't mean to make him blush (too deep a shade of red), but the man deserves it.

In response to a comment I made earlier in the year that Christmas 2001 was somewhat sucky, he took a good bit of time and effort and thought to compile for me what could only be called "A Christmas stocking by parcel post" which goes well above and beyond the call of duty.

I won't embarress him further by praising each object therein by name, except to say that the whole reflects a rather odd and ecclectic mind that is bursting with creativity... But those of us who know him, already know that.

Gordon, when your birthday rolled around, you worried that you had reached 30 without having made anything of your life... Well, you may not be living on the fast track, but it seems to me that you're living on the right one...

Just wanted to say that...

You know, when I was trying to describe the contents of the packet to my Dad, especially little Major Clanger, he said: "I wonder if the package whistled at anyone in transit."

Actually, he was the only thing I was worried might cause trouble at customs in the unlikely event he *did* start whistling away as the package moved past them. And yes, I even poked the package a bit to test if he could be set off easily... :)
