An "Ave Pomona" GIP
Feb. 9th, 2005 11:34 pmNow, I, who revel in making strong connections in traditions where none existed before, would like to expand that.
Pomona is a tree nymph. But she doesn't really like the wild forests. She prefers the garden and orchard, and she is seen, not wielding a bow and arrows (like Diana), or a sword (like Minerva), but a pruning knife. She's a fertility goddess, no doubt about that. But she's not exactly a fertility everywhichway goddess. She's an artist.
And so, to that end, I'll imagine Pomona as the Goddess of Seperation of Church and State, and thereby, naturally, the Goddess of Free Expression.
So I'll probably be using this icon, which I just made today, whenever I want to invoke Her powers against those in Church and State who try to stifle freedom.
