Back then, my username was Pomeroyschild, in honor of my mother (I think, though there may have been a _ in there. ... don't remember). I had all of three people on my friends list: [livejournal.com profile] gordon_r_d, [livejournal.com profile] alryssa and [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse.

This is what my journal looked like on the first day (except that the first post of the day is at the top, rather than the bottom, and I hadn't come up with my Eloise icon set, yet, yadda yadda, but yeah). For the most part, I think I've been rather consistant and true to my original LJ intent, considering... well, on second thought, maybe not.

Anyway, I had planned for this to be post #600, and I had planned to post six seperate drabbles to celebrate. But this is only post #597. And I'm too NaNo'ed out to write anything for spare (I did break the 10,000th word mark, just now, and am about to pass the p.o.v baton on to someone more exciting, so yay!).

Some other stuff has been happening, too. ... mostly, kind of annoying and bletchy. But I don't want to talk about any of that, right now. I want to have a third anniversary party, instead!

So who's with me?

Yay, 10,0000! I'm only passing 5,000 now.

I had a thread about nano on mudcat, but it kept falling off.

Well, I have a bit of an unfair advantage, in that I really don't have any other major responsibilities, and can actually spend most of my day writing. OTOH, I do want to be done, or nearly done, a week ahead of time, because the days between the 23rd and the 28th will have almost zero time for writing. So I had an initial goal of writing 2,500 words a day. I've fallen short of that, a bit.

About to plug Fire Over Water into the verifyer, now, and see what it comes up with. ...

Happy anniversary to you, too! (You know, My mom celebratred birthdays and such for a whole 8 days: The eve before, and the week, after. It spreads out the insanity to a managable level, and greatly reduces the "missed your birthday/anniversary -- sorry!" phenomenon.

So while we may not share an anniversary in the strictest sense, we do share an "octave" and that's just as good!

Here! have some cake! You want a bit with a frosting rose on it?

Hey, why party for one day when you can party for 8? :) thanks for the cake!

That was kind of Mother's point, I think. Her reasoning was that if Saints in the Catholic Chruch get their days celebrated for a whole octave, why not us? (I think she was something of a Discordian, without even realizing it ;)).

Besides, if your birthday fell somewhere in the middle of the workweek, it kind of lessoned the feeling of being cheated if you had a small celebration on the actual day, and then saved the big party for the weekend.

What are ... er ... "profiteroles"?

How many syllables is that?

And should I be shielding my guests from the possible danger of getting bonked on the head with one (or, perhaps two)?

Profiteroles (four syllables) are a type of small round pastry filled with cream or custard.

While there's quite a high risk of somebody getting hit by one, given my juggling skill level, they're quite soft and it would not cause any harm, only a bit of mess. (It'd be no fun otherwise...)
