[livejournal.com profile] pedanther pointed me to this wonderful story: Standing in the Spirit in [livejournal.com profile] papersky's journal. [livejournal.com profile] lizziebelle, and [livejournal.com profile] gordon_r_d, I suspect you two, especially, will understand and appreciate the protagonist's anger at Christmas.

I always liked Janet Kagan. ^^

I can see why.

Though to be honest, I found the foreshadowing of her and Eban's marriage a bit forced, at the end. I think it would have been just as strong an ending if she had left us with the "you may call me Ebanezer" bit.

Though that may be my own limitations and lonliness, talking. So please disregard. Don't want to spoil a perfectly good story by complaining.

You too, Neil (and Sherlock -- another sweetie named for a Victorian fictional character)!

Stories really are magical.

May you be the best author of your own story in 2006, and may your story be a happy one!

I've never felt anger at Christmas, 'though I could sympathize with the protagonist's frustration at crabby customers. I do enjoy the season a whole lot more now that I don't work in retail! I can stay out of stores if I want to, and it can be just a week if I want it to be (instead of the six weeks it used to be).

Thanks for the link-- it was a sweet story. :)

You really should thank [livejournal.com profile] pedanther. He's the one that left a link in a reply to me. I wouldn't have known the story existed without his nudge.

That was stunningly good. Thanks. To you and [livejournal.com profile] pedanther. And of course the author.
