Well, I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself, if I may be so bold as to say so.
The song I mentioned the other night seems to have hit a real chord with people, and folks have been asking me to sing it into their answering machines, so they can teach it to others, and the midi for it is now up in this forum's permenant collection of songs.

Since this is a forum that is frequented by quite a few professional singers, this is no small potatos ... It's one thing when grandma likes your song, and asks you to sing it at the Thanksgiving table for cousin Mel. It's another when a professional singer asks if they can sing it at a workshop for strangers.

So... you know... :-). Seems I got something right....

You absolutely *must* send me the lyrics and a MIDI sometime. I should really look at MIDI stuff again, been about five years since I last used it. :)

As for working with midis....

I wrote the song using Noteworthy Composer... a sort of word processor for music. You enter a series note on a musical scale, and it will play it back for you, and then it has a word-processor type thing where you can write the lyrics and it will automatically line up the words under the notes, and then you can format it for font and staff properties and hand it out to all your friends. It can also save everything you write in Midi format, and convert midis into its own format so you can print them out as a score... pretty nifty. I downloaded the full program for $39 American, which I think is a pretty good deal... and fun to play with...
