Hello, All!

As some of you know, I've been lurking here for a while, and now, thanks to Gordon Dempster and Alryssa, I finally have a journal of my own, and won't have to be anonymous (Ann on a mouse? ;-)) any longer... Thanks, Guys!.

Okay... so now that I have a journal, what will I do with it?

Well.... One thing I've been missing in my life is the amount of writing just-for-fun that I used to do, in my salad days. I used to write all the time -- fantasy stories, funny stories, sci-fi stories, poems, songs, you name it. Then I grew up, went to college, and only started writing for assignments. When I left college, I stopped writing even for that... :-( ... mea culpa. But I think it was in part because once I was out of school, I was also out of a larger community, and didn't have other minds with which to share ideas and get bouncy with.

Well, now, I'm jumping back into a community. So there!

Watch this space for story snippets and silliness, poems, vignettes, and songs. 99% of these will never be "finished" but I want to get away from doing things only for the end goal, anyway...

Let the bounciness commence!

Oh, and ps: I've decided, because I hate to see good language go extinct, to use the "old fashioned" forms of the second person pronoun (Thou, Thee, You, and Ye).... You is plural, Thou is singular, -ou is the ending for the objective case, e/ee is subjective... (This practice will also help me get it right if I'm writing a story set in the 16th century)....

A random, (almost) unpremeditated drabble (just to see what's crawling around under the rocks in my head) ;-)

Pauru rested her hand against the doorjamb. Its rough stone
smelled of time and thunderstorms -- beyond the threshold, only darkness.
The pale moonlight that had lit her way so far
stopped at her back, as if it had met an
opaque wall. And yet the cool, damp breeze that
brushed her cheek told her that no such wall existed.
The quality of the breeze's whisper changed, and she heard
A voice: "I know who stands at my door," it
said to her. "Do you?" Pauru swallowed hard. All she
knew was that she, whoever she was, had finally arrived.
