Still working on the gryphon story...

A friend I was chatting with about it, found this folkloric tidbit on the Web:

Gryphon's talons were made into drinking horns, because it was believed that they could detect poison in the drink...

Now, think about that a minute: A gryphon's front half had the shape and proportions of an eagle.

If one talon were big enough to use as a drinking horn ... How big was the rest of the beast?

Tip: if you ever meet a gryphon, try not to look like a snack!

Argh! Public announcement...

Sometime late last night (After 10 pm, EDT), my friends page suddenly lost all word wrap, although my own page remains readable.

According to Live Journal FAQ file, here, this probably means someone on my friends list either posted a string of text that is too long, a picture that is too big, or hmtl that is incorrect.... And often, external quizzes and the like are often the cause... But the "battle cry" quiz and the "Doctor Who" have been around for days without causing a problem...

The suggested solution is to politely ask the friend in question to edit his or her post... The only problem is, I don't know which friend it is!

So, if your own journal page (whoever you are) seems to have lost word wrap, I suggest, in a manner that I hope is kindly, that you follow some of the tips given in the link above, thank you.
