And it just so happens that ten friends that I probably would visit on my trick or treating rounds aren't together alphabetically....

I still got a lot of tricks (Stealing candy? for shame!), but I got a better haul. I wonder if it's the costume that made the difference, or a better selection of friends -- or both. And at least this time, I got a block of wood to stick the thumbtack into so I don't hurt myself... and I can paint it pretty colors when I get home, and use it as a paperweight. :-)

BTW,I actually like dreaming up different costumes, even if I don't have the means to make them. I've figured out ways of making both "Mother Goose" and "Rainbow with Pot of Gold" ... I actually think the rainbow would be simpler to make ... I think.
