just want to give a shout out to Jonathan R. Menefee

Who is Jonathan R. Menefee? He's the Democratic candidate for my congressional district. And his story is this: He was a volunteer for the Edwards' primary campaign, and when Edwards dropped out of that race, he came home to volunteer for the Democratic Congressional candidate.. only to discover there wasn't one -- the local Democratic party didn't think it was worth it to put someone up against the Republican bigwig.

"But," they said, "you seem to care about this race, and know about the issues... You wanna run?"

and Jonathan said: "Okay!"

Oh, and today is his 26th birthday.

Thanks for taking a risk, mister, and not rolling over and playing dead before the Republicans. Now, I have someone to vote for besides the president, come November 2.

(Oh, and he also got his B.A. in History and English/Creative Writing. Let's hear it for the storytellers!)
