Ace: 'Don't you have things you hate?'
Doctor: 'I can't stand burnt toast. I loath bus stations. Terrible places. Full of lost luggage and lost souls.'
(Thanks to
gordon_r_d for finding that quote...)
Here's something else I'd add to that list. I don't hate it in an "Ooh! I need to RANT about this!!" sort of way, but in a "Damn! that makes me sad..." sort of way:
First learning about wonderful people, who were creative and kind and made the world a better place, by reading their obituaries.
Ossie Davis doesn't fit that catagory; it's just that seeing his obituaries in the news lately got me thinking. Though I never met Ossie, personally, I did bump into his son, Guy, a few times, when I was in my teens, and Guy (that's with the Engliish pronounciation, not the French), was in his twenties, playing music at Clearwater's fundraising picnics. Great smile, wonderful voice, open spirit. If the son truly is a a testament to the nature of the father, then, well....
So I feel just a little bit closer to Ossie Davis than I otherwise might....
And I'm a little bit sadder today than I otherwise might be....
