Thoughts on my country...

Last night, after "A Capital Fourth," my local PBS station aired Jefferson and Adams: a Stage Play (produced by Colonial Williamsburg, which is local).

And it occurred to me that the party in power today agrees with Adams' on the Alien and Sedition Acts, and agrees with Jefferson about guns ("We need our guns, in case we have to overthrow the federal government").

... What a depressing combination ...

In other news, Gaylord Nelson, former senator and founder of Earth Day, died on Sunday. I'd say he left a pretty good legacy, since the G-8 will be discussing global warming at their summit...

It looks more like something from the Arts and Crafts Movement, than Victorian, to me... I do so love the smell of wood, don't you?
