Did you know that August is...

But it must have been Art Making Month even beforejekesta decided it, because, last November, when I was trying to buy art supplies to make Yuletide decorations for my door and windows, everything was sold out. And I vowed that in 2006, I would start making my decorations in August, when I could still get ahold of wreath forms, and holly garlands, and the weather was warm enough to work outside, in case I needed to use spray paints and adhesives that required good ventilation. And now, I can make those decorations and have a cheering section, too.
So, yesterday, at the library, I picked up two books to prepare. One was a book for Primary School art teachers of crafts projects inspired from cultures around the world. I figured the projects in there would give me good ideas for things that I can finish in one day. I was also looking for a book on paper crafts, too. But instead, I picked up one on wire. I've never done anything serious with wire before, but this book was so shiny, and as I turned the pages, I was going:
It was very shiny -- and literally so. So I borrowed the book, and now, I'm looking forward to reading all about wire, and the different kinds, and colors, and what you can do with it. And then, I will go online and order pliers and pinchers, and coils. Do not be surprised if many of you get wire tree ornaments from me, this year. I may even end up making things that are not purely artistic, but useful, too.
And while I'm waiting for things to arrive in the mail, I will probably be drawing, and making things out of cut paper, and making art with my MSPaint program. I will also make an LJ scrapbook for my NaArMaMo art. I don't have a digital camera, so I won't be able to put the 3d things in, but what I can scan, I will (and, if things are flat before they're voluminous, I'll scan the incomplete art).
