naarmamo, day 2
Aug. 2nd, 2006 09:46 pmYesterday's art was a quickie; today's was an all-day project (granted, I didn't get started until around 1 pm, but even then, it took a good 5 hours, not including breaks for laundry and food).
I've been wanting to do a poster of this for ages, and when I woke this morning, I decided to get it out of my system. The image is a mix of pencil, wax crayon, washable marker and pixels. The words are from Friedrich Schiller's 1785 version of The Ode to Joy (lines 39-44), translated from the German by Babelfish, and translated from the Babelfish by yours truly.
Going to try and do a picture link, now:
( behind this cut [click to see], because even as a .png, it's 566k )
For those with slow modems, here is my translation of the translation:

Joy, joy, drives the gears of the Cosmic Clock. It calls flowers from their buds, and stars from the ether, guiding planets beyond the reach of our telescopes.
