naarmamo, day 16
Aug. 16th, 2006 03:15 pmThe half-way mark! Wow!

Self portrait in 4 lines. I was revisting an art exercise from high school, with this one, where our art teacher had us draw our own left hands without once picking up our pencils or looking at the paper, except to make sure our pencils were actually on the paper when we started. We weren't to care if the single line matched up in the end or not; the point was to slow down and really pay attention to all the wrinkles and creases in our skin.
I did this in 4 lines, not one, so I cheated a bit. And if my teacher were here, she'd probably say I went too fast.
Mostly, I did it as an exercise to get myself used to looking at myself in the mirror, without being so critical all the time, the way I used to be able to, long ago... :::Sigh:::
