Thinking ahead for my NaNoWriMo story.

We're officially advised not to plan too much ahead in NaNoWriMo, but, this year, I'll be stepping far outside my comfort zone, and just thinking about the general premise of my story is making me slightly dizzy with all the choices that lay ahead. So: I'd like a nice handrail on this steep and winding, branching, forking, path. So: I'm posting a poll.
