  • Yesterday evening, around 5, or so, I could hear the mechanical music (like some cheesy cellphone "ring") from far away, barely able to make out what the tune was, barely able to tell if it was getting closer or not. Slowly, in fits and starts, it did get louder, and I could tell that the tune was "Turkey in the Straw" -- over, and over, and over. At around 5:20, the ice cream appeared at the head of our cul-de-sac. At 5:25, it pulled up and parked right at the foot of my driveway. If I'd been suitably dressed for Being Seen by Respectable Folk, and if I'd enough cash money in the house, and if I'd already closed the herded my cats into my bedroom, so I could safely open the front door, I would have gone outside, and bought myself an icecream treat. Unfortunately, none of that was the case. So I didn't get any ice cream. I remember when Ice cream trucks rang bells, and such, to call to kids. I like that sound better (though "Turkey in the Straw" does remind me of the first pro-fun Hoedown).

  • This afternoon, just after I finished my picture for [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo, I went into the kitchen for a snack. As I passed by my window, I thought I saw something moving, out of the corner of my eye. So I stopped and looked closer. Just when I figured it must have been a trick of the light, or a leaf blown by the wind, I saw the little, wild bunny rabbit in my back yard she (or he) was very relaxed, just sort of browsing and munching. And I, out of reflex, said aloud: "Hello, bunny rabbit!" It must have heard me, because its ears went straight up, and it looked right at the direction of the kitchen window for a moment. I don't know if it saw me, or not, or figured out that it was I who called, but it must have decided I wasn't a threat, because it went back to browsing. Then, something did spook it, and it put its ears back, and darted for the undergrowth.

  • I'm thinking of writing a survey/quiz to measure people's assumptions about disability (showing pictures of different people and asking questions underneath, such: "Which person do you think has a more satisfying life?" or the suchlike). Should I? And if I should, how would I (put it online)?

  • I'm getting closer and closer to subscribing to New Mobility again. Today, I registered for their website, so I could visit the message boards. ...
