On August 28th, the pet-peeve valve in my brain finally opened up, and I started writing a song in response to all those people, over the years, who have:

  • Said "God bless you!" in a sickly-sweet, talk-to-a-child, tone of voice (which I hated even when I was three years old), when I'd just uttered a snarky, sarcastic, comment about something.

  • Told me how "inspiring" and brave I must be to do ____, even though I'm "wheelchair bound."

  • Answered the walking person who happened to be with me, even though I was the one who'd asked the question.

  • Asked me if I wished I could walk, and when I answered: "No, not really," asked me why I'd given up on life (or something to that effect).

  • Let me know, either directly or indirectly, that if I accepted Jesus into my life, my life wouldn't be so miserable (even though the only thing they knew about my life is that I use a wheelchair).

Well, I finished it just this afternoon. And I think it's one of my *best* songs, ever )

Also, I'm sure someone on my f'list (knowing my f'list) caught Stevie Wonder's performance at the Democratic convention, last Thursday;

Did my ears deceive me, or was he really singing a song that asked what a blind man would like to see, what a child without feet or hands would like to do, and what a deaf woman would like to hear, if each of their disabilities were miraculously cured?

I can't find the lyrics to that song, online, so I can't double-check.
