Ben and Jerry's (A gourmet American Ice Cream company that makes unusual and wacky-named ice creams) used to have a chocolaty-orange icecream called "Pulp Addiction," but they discontinued it before I got a chance to taste some (boo, them!!). Frankly, I think it was the "pulp" in the name -- many Americans don't like orange pulp in their orange juice, and they might have been afraid there were pulpy bits in the ice cream.

Anyway, when I'm stressed out, at night, I calm myself down by thinking up recipes, and Ben and Jerry's has a "Suggest-a-flavor" Form! So I got to thinking, last night, of different ways they could/should try mixing orange and chocolate together, again, and I dreamt up a few combonations.

so: poll time!

[Poll #929029]

[eta: I can't edit the poll, now that it's posted, but I thought of another name for the first flavor idea, a second variation on "golden rocky road": Road to El Dorado (which, I believe is also a movie title). Whatcha think?]

I suggested 'The Rainbow Confection' for #3, but maybe it needs more colours than just orange, purple, and brown.

"Rainbow confection" is a great name... but yeah, without blue, green, and red, "rainbow" just doesn't quite work (and I was thinking there should be something rainbow-ish for "Leprecandy Gold" too) ... but who wants blue or green ice cream?

I like cotton candy ice cream, and that's pink, and mint-choc-chip is usually green :)

yeah, but B & J don't put artificial colors in their ice cream... without that, it's white.

I just thought of, "Orange you glad I didn't say Banana" :P

That might make people think there's banana in there, too. But "orange you glad?" is kinda catchy... for any one of them...

They also have a "Flavor Ressurector," where you can vote for discontinued flavors to be brought back. I usually vote for Holy Cannoli and Cool Britannia, but there'd be nothing stopping you for voting to bring back Pulp Addiction. What did it have in it?

What did it have in it?

Let's see, (checks the description in the "flavor graveyard") ... orange ice cream swirled together with chocolate-orange ice cream, and "orange flavored brandy liquor" (probably Grand Marnier, but they couldn't use the brand name on their site).

I thought about going to the flavor ressurector... but then again, I like chocolate chunks in my ice cream

And if it's the name that puts people off (as I suspect) bringing that same name back won't make it any more successful the second time around, especially since the referring movie is no longer the hippesst thing in our culture, at the mo'.
