Is watching the overnight, off-hour, educational feeds made available for teachers to videotape for use in their classrooms. Mini shows on science, or history, or math, or art...
... Anyway, these shows arehardly ever never a full half hour, and so, to fill out the timeslots, my local station often airs "Animusic" vids: computer animations of robots playing mind-bendingly complex instrumentals.
I've seen many of these vids several times. And it never fails that: a) my brain is going "oooh, shiiiinnnnnnyyyyyy!" and b) I start thinking to myself: "My geeky LJ friends would love this."
So, finally, just now, I went to their website advertised, and found the page with clips. I'll wager that it's not dial-up friendly at all, but if you have broadband, you can go look at some samples, if you click here. And it would be almost like we're watching bits of it together, and passing the popcorn... or maybe the Pringles[tm].
