Rita Moreno and a frighteningly young Morgan Freeman go to town with Tom Lehrer.

(ETA: 'course, the list of ice cream flavors that finally sends Morgan running from the diner wouldn't faze kids of today's Ben & Jerry's generation... I think there really is a bubblegum flavored ice cream on the market)

My husband and I got our three-year-old niece a set of Electric Company DVDs for Christmas. It apparently took her a few months to even agree to try them (she's a creature of habit, as are many kids that age), but she's totally hooked now. It's gratifying to see something I loved appreciated by the next generation. I hope to someday enjoy the episodes with my own daughter.

Your niece has a very sophicated sense of humor... :-) TEC was originally written with jaded second and third graders in mind.

I saw on IMdB that the Children's Television Workshop will be making a new version of the Electric Company, to be aired next year... So perhaps you and your daughter will have entirely new episodes to enjoy.

I loved this show. It singlehandedly taught me how to read.

It didn't singlehandedly teach me to read, but it sure reinforced what I was learning. Every time I write a word ending in -tion, the "polution" song goes through my head, to this day...
