  7. Today:

  1. This is one of my all-time favorite quotes from Shakespeare. The woman speaking is a lady of mature years, who is just about to go tell the king he's batshit crazy. Because she's an uppity woman, the king will threaten to burn her at the stake as a witch. She'll basically thumb her nose at him. I love uppity women -- in fiction and real life!

I did the colored background first. Then, in a seperate file, I did the text in white letters on a black background and mashed them together; I tried to line up the words with appropriate colors: cooler colors for "tongue" and "Wit," and hotter, more vibrant colors for "passion" and "bosom." Not sure I succeeded. I had already uploaded it to [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo when I realized I left out the "not." But I figured out how to edit it, and match up the colors, too (pats self on back).

  2. This was a slogan I painted on a tee-shirt when I was in tenth grade, iirc-- either that, or ninth. Same technique as the previous

  3. Wanted to convert day 9 into an icon, but it was too wordy. Windows XP has anti-aliasing as default, and although I searched Windows Help I couldn't find any way to turn it off. It doesn't do this with drawn shapes, just letters. So I made these words by drawing shapes.

  4. The words here are actually a subject line of spam that came into my email box. How could I not take up the challenge?

  5. I made this specifically to give someone a virtual hug in a reply (and I needed a shinier hug icon), post-midnigt but pre-bed. I only submitted it as the next day's na'art as the clock neared midnight, and my official art efforts for the day were still not producing anything pleasing.

  6. A page from an alien kid's alphabet book. When I was a teen, I used to spend hours amusing myself inventing alien alphabets and trying to write messages with them. Back then, I just did scribble for letter substitution. This time, however, I focused on the phonetic sounds, then, I gave this alphabet different rules from our current Roman one.

I may make a dedicated post, later, on the logic I used, and see what you think that word would look/sound like, if it were written in English.

  7. Went to bed about three hours earlier than I usually do, because I hadn't really been sleeping since the hug tiem macro icon. Woke up after 3 hours (2:35 am), and instead of drifting back to sleep (after an hour), I was getting hungry.. so I got up and ate something. Still not drowsy, I came in here and made this. It's another of my favorite Shakespeare quotes. This is what I was trying to do on the 12th. It worked better, this time.

Good on you! I wish I had the time to make art every day. Alas, summer is a busy time. I'll have to settle for squeezing in a few minutes on the weekends. :)

Well, I have the time to get fiddly. But it doesn't have to be fancy. A doodle in the corner of a memo sheet when you're bored, would also count...

Oh, I'm sure it would count, but I still wish I had the time! ;)
