Signmark (Wikipedia article, so expect a good dose of nonsense/irrelevance) is a Finnish rap/hip-hop group, and the lead artist, Marko Vuoriheimo, is a native Signer of Finnish Sign Language. However, I recognize most of the signs in this song as ASL (American Sign Language), which is fair, I suppose since its lyrics are sung in American.
But these are signs I don't (quite) recognize:
"SINCE I'm doing this for my people..." -- SINCE (because), here, has the position, movement and palm orientation as the sign that I learned, but a different hand shape.
and:
"You WON'T see me fall down..." -- WON'T has the same hand shape, and palm orientation as the sign I learned, but a different movement and different position.
Finnish Sign Language is (according to linguists) part of the British Sign Language family. So maybe that's where the change comes from? Or maybe this is just the natural evolution of changes in the way languages are "pronounced" (I mean, to be fair, the last time I studied this stuff was 20+ years ago, and that's plenty of time for phoneme shifts)? Or maybe this a sign that's used in "Street lingo," or something, that doesn't get recorded for dictionaries and classrooms?
All of the above?

When I bop over to the BBC to watch their signed programming, I get very itchy watching their hands at work. The default palm orientation is facing the body. Based on my informal survey, it seems like hands go up more where in ASL they go out and down. The #1 giveaway is the two-hand fingerspelling for letters and numbers.
BSL forms the basis for many commonwealth countries, e.g., NZ, Australia, Bermuda (but not Canada, more below)
In the US, the possibility of education using the language of signs is generally credited to the visiting French educator, Laurent Clerc. ASL grew out of the cross-fertilization of LSF (French Sign Language), Native American sign languages, regional sign languages, and the home sign systems of the first students.
When I was fairly fluent in ASL, I watched the signed Canadian parliamentary debates. I'm sure there are thousands of small differences between LSQ (Quebec Sign Lang) and LSF french. But the common history means that ASL and LSQ are much closer than English and French speakers.

I knew "Signmark"'s native language is Finnish Sign Language, rather than ASL, so I popped over to see if Finnish Sign was at all related to American Sign... And I saw that it was not.
So I figured, since the vocals were translated for an American audience, the signs must have been, too (though there's at least one instance where it's clear English is not the native tongue of the singer and/or translator: with the line at the end of the first verse: "Fingers tied when I see you solemnly swear" -- that's not like any English idiom I've ever heard. I would say that as "fingers crossed ..."

Besides, now your comments are part of the public record for those who actually don't know a linguistic hawk from a handsaw (like my cousin, who was, at 60+, completely surprised to learn that Sign Language is not universal).
