Hey, remember the "Ozy and Millie" web comic (D.C. Simpson)?

Yesterday, I got hit with a nostalgia-pang, and went web-surfing to see what D.C. (now Dana) Simpson was up to.

Found her blog: Ink and White Space -- and it turns out, she's got a paying contract (Since April 23, of this year) with Universal UClick comics (formerly United Press Syndicate) (gocomics.com), alongside Peanuts, Doonsbury, and Heathcliff.

Her new comic is Heavenly Nostrils, and it's about a nine-year old girl and her best friend unicorn.

The site is full of ads, and no doubt is data-mining my existence, but I registered to receive email updates, anyway, because if anyone deserves a paying gig, it's Ms. Simpson.

And today's strip ("This is it, Marigold. This'll be the summer I'm big enough and brave enough to jump from the HIGH rock.") is so pro-fun that Eloise woke up and did a happy dance...

I've been reading that for a few weeks now; someone on another comic recced it. :-)

I read that comics site via feed with Firefox with adblock on; it'd be unbearable otherwise.

Well, since my user name is a contraction (sort of) of "Capricorn" and "Unicorn," I knew I had to check it out...

Glad I did... I find myself randomly chuckling at bits, throughout the day, which is always a good sign (loved Marigold's confusion over the meaning of "slumber party").

And I could kiss Dana Simpson (or at least blow her a kiss or two) for giving Marigold cloven hooves and a lion's tail, and not just making her a common Shetland pony with a horn, like so many seem to want to (that was my number one pet peeve when I was nine years old -- really. I judged people by the way they imagined unicorns looked. I was a very judgey nine year old).

And yes; when factoring, you always cancel out the common denominators... If I recall correctly, I chose the name back in '98, or thereabouts, and decided to use it as my universal online "face." So I was quite peeved when this young upstart Google said I'd have to switch to my birth certificate name for all its online identities.

So I told it my birth certificate name was Capri Uni. >;-)
