Meanwhile, the mini-van has arrived (and is now properly insured), but the title of ownership has not. If I can't get said title by tomorrow, I will have to rent a van to drive 'cross country. I am about to call the dealer in AZ and give him/them what for...
Edit: Update
Okay, my aide came by just after I wrote this and hung around while I made the call. I picked up on her anger/impatience, and came off rather snippy, and the dealer regressed into "The dog ate my homework" mode... and promised me he'd fax a set of 30-day dealer's tags to the local dealer here... Vehicles with dealers' tags don't need to be registered, apparently.
Then got a call from local dealer here that the tags won't be here until tomorrow because they're being overnighted, not faxed (I couldn't figure out how license tags could be faxed anyway). The dealer in Arizona probably just said he'd fax them to stop my snitfit. So much for trying to hurry things up by getting angry...
...
But I won't be able to pick up the van as soon as the tags get here, because there is a problem with the fog lights -- they won't turn off automatically when the highbeams come on, and apparently, it won't pass state inspection until that's fixed. And the local dealer here won't be able to take it to the shop until the plates get here tomorrow ... Now, fog lights are extras. There are lots of cars that don't even have them, so dad and I can't figure out why it's so critical, but . . .
And just to put this in context: We leave for Gally pre-dawn Sunday! And the local dealer here is still saying it's too early to discuss renting, and that everything will be done in time...
Oh, and while I was writing this, Dad relayed the following message via IM: The title was mailed this morning by certified mail to John and therefore he probably won't get it until Monday. Henry tried to catch it before it left in order to overnight it but didn't get to it in time.

I took a mega-dose of vitamin complex earlier, so I'm calmer than I was this morning, but I am still:
I taste like Peanut Butter.I am one of the most blendable flavours; I go with sweet, I go with sour, I go with bland, I go with anything. I am practical and good company, but have something of a tendency to hang around when I'm not wanted, unaware that my presence is not welcome. What Flavour Are You? |
I am a subtle taste, like Pine.I am a quiet, fresh taste, almost more of a scent than a flavour. You will be aware of me, but not quite remember me without being reminded. Not that I'm boring; on the contrary, I'm just a little outside the ordinary. What Flavour Are You? |
