Well -- Death strikes again.
Jun. 7th, 2004 02:38 pmLast week, it was discovered that my aide's father had advanced colon cancer. The cantankerous old coot refused to see himself as sick until it felt like he had apendacitis.
Last night, he died.
My aide called me up to tell me this, and that she couldn't get me to my hair appointment, but that she'll try to be here later this afternoon.
I told her not to even think of coming over today, and that I'll see her tomorrow.
---
I met the man once, I think, so I'm not grieving for him. But, except for her deployments in the navy, she has always lived within five miles of her family. The same is true for her brothers and sister, I think, who have lived in the same area for generations. So she must be in quite a bit of shock.
I was, when my mother died. And she'd been sick for some time, and I knew it was coming. Audrey had a total of 7 days to get her mind around it.

Not much more to say.
