my rather odd way of doing sorta-fanfic
Apr. 18th, 2005 09:19 pmOkay, so: the Joyful Troll Round Robins started out firmly nestled in Doctor Who fandom But even then, I don't think knowledge or enjoyment of the series spread much further than the baker's dozen or so writers who've participated each time. So -- these stories exist in a pocket fictiverse in an already not-too-huge fandom.
And then, there are the original characters I created within that pocket (I'm beginning to get the sense esoteric nesting dolls, here): The knot I think of as the 'Sweetheart' crew*.
Now, I've been itching to write about this motly crew, and flesh them out as characters, and I was thinking about posting these stories here, to my LJ, in part, so I can store them in my memories, and see them in context in context with what's going on in the rest of my life.
And I was just wondering if anyone else on my flist would be interested in reading them, too. 'Cause if not, I'll just post them as private entries. But if anyone is interested, I might like feedback... and I'd create a special lock for the fic. Kay?
Thanks!
*Sweetheart/Beloved: (an original TARDIS), The trolls, Eloise, Rulthie, and Walter; Spethan the Typo Gremlin, Hi-Five (the former 'Gods of Ragnarok' Circus poodle) and Estandre, Sweetheart's original Time Lord Pilot.

I do something sort-of kind-of similar with Allie and her family; not so much with the intent of fleshing them out, more along the lines of either having an idea about them or thinking 'this seems like a good idea for them', even if it's only a vague one. In my case, I usually end up posting them to adwc.
All things considered, I wouldn't mind seeing you taking a closer look at the 'Sweetheart' crew, expand on their characters; from my p.o.v, it's a chance to learn more about them, see what they do when they're /not/ hosting the party.

Date: 2005-04-19 02:19 pm (UTC)Well, yes, actually. I had a feeling you'd be interested, but most of the people on my flist had never participated in a hoedown, and I was wondering if any of them were interested, too.
And it was late, and the ogre of self-doubt was rearing it's rather stinkypoo head...

Date: 2005-04-19 02:14 pm (UTC)I just didn't think of TTR at first, because, even though it's outside continuity, it does seem to have a continuity of its own, and had existed long before the hoedowns existed.(and in the scenes I'm thinking of, Eloise and Estandre are putttering around their TARDIS's kitchen and library, rather than in a rather rowdy bar).

Sweetheart has generally been assumed to exist 'outside continuity' in a similar way to the 'Round, since, like the 'Round, she's a place where the Doctors can meet without any weird side-effects, and where authors and muses can pop in to join the action.
You're free to write the scenes with Eloise and Estandre in Sweetheart, and post them to
