And, to make this more than just a cut-n-paste job, I will list my chosen answers, too...and why I picked 'em.
1) A woman's place is: In the House ... and Senate. My mother had that as a bumper sticker on her car. :-) And our Legislative Branch should, indeed, reflect our population as a whole, which is, I think, 51% female. Taking up the old Iroquois government system (where only men could hold public office, but only women could vote) would also lead to interesting consequences. ;-)
2) Taxes. The rich should contribute at the highest rate, because it hurts them less.. And they also tend to be the largest sponge on our resources. And there's that whole Noblesse Oblige thing: with privilege, comes responsibility.
The Bush family is: the most successful organized crime family in history. "Crime family" is a bit strong, but they've certainly known how to bend the law in their favor, if not actually break it.
4) Hitler. is irrelevant, and a flamebait question, if you ask me. But since you can't get away from him: Typical of the Patriarchy. This was the best answer out of a bad list of choices. Hitler was mentally deranged and emotionally unstable. But he rose to power and stayed there for so long because, in his manic, hate-filled rantings he said things that certain people near enough to true power wanted to hear. In that sense, although he was an abberartion, he was also the product of his society and time.
5) Social Security is: very reassuring to have around Talk about "Family Values" -- what about the young having the responsibility to repay their elders for the sacrifices they've made on our behalf?
6) Israelis vs. Palestinians. Twist a few Isreali arms, and make them understand they need to allow a Palestian state. (or even allow Palestinians in Isreal to be full citizens, with the right to jobs, and votes and housing. How Isreal can call itself a democracy while denying so many citizens within its borders these basic rights, based solely on ethnic identification, is beyond my ken)
7) Are the media biased? Blatantly. The spread of "fair and balanced" Faux News-ism is turning the whole broadcast industry into an extention of talk radio hate propaganda. I used to think it balanced out, but... feh. My mother, who worked as a newspaper reporter for the last few years of her life, observed that reporters tended to be liberal, privately, but that publishers were conservative. With all the medial mergers going on over recent years, I think the balance of power has tipped toward the publisher more than it used to be.
8) Global warming, pollution, endangered species... What do we do for our poor planet? Go solar!
9) Ronald Reagan was: the best thing we could have had, because the way he impoverished the working classes brought eventual Socialist revolution much closer. Not really. But the grass-roots peace and environmental movement did finally get organized and gain energy in response to his crazy war-mongering talk. ...Funny, but he seems down-right Dovish, compared to Bush...
And the resuts:
Are You A Republican?

Date: 2005-04-27 07:00 pm (UTC)Oooh, intriguing, yes.
A bit of American History...
Date: 2005-04-27 09:54 pm (UTC)It didn't work as well as its drafters had hoped (perhaps because the guys who came up with our version denied women the vote ;-)), and so the Constitional Convention was called, and we got our current form of government in 1789.
The Articles of Confederation was based on Pagan ideas (and we inherited many of our ideas about what democracy is from those Pagan Greeks and Romans). And there were lots of Deist dudes among those drafted the Constitution.
Explain to me again how American law and goverment is Christian-based?
