Vote to cut 100% of PBS's public funding over the next 2 years

When it comes to Dire Threats[tm], the Internet can be a bit like the boy who cried wolf, but last night, the CEO of my local public television station appeared on screen to inform all viewers that this threat is real, this time. And he urged us to call our representatives as soon as possible, and let our opinions be known, since the full vote might be as early as Wednesday.

The details are pretty sickening. If you are an American citizen, I also urge you to call your representative, and demand full support for public broadcasting. If you have other Americans on your flist, I urge you to pass this on.

No apologies needed. That language strikes me as fully apropriate...

Or, to adapt a term I found on popesnarky's LJ, they suffer from fecochephalitis (Latin/Greek mix -- you can work out the meaning from there).

...that the Senate might be able to reverse some of the cuts made by the House. Remember, the budget is set by *BOTH* houses of Congress so that does include the Senate which has been known to go their own way from time to time...

So, yeah, better get on the horn to my sen--er, darnit, I have two republican senators (one of them is gay-bashing right-winger Rick Santorum...bleh), that's not going to help me, is it?

My senators, OTOH, are Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. Do I really need to call?

Yeah... I know... this proposed budget has to be passed by the full Congress, first, too. That's why I called my Representative, Forbes, today. He's a staunch conservative, but that doesn't matter, he doesn't know how I voted, last year. All he knows is that I'm one of the people who will either vote for or against him, next time. And that's all that matters.

I have my senators' numbers by the phone, too... just in case this bill passes the full congressional vote.
