Calling all those who have vivid memories of the '04 American Presidential Election!

'You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit the views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.'

I could swear I remember John Kerry saying this (or a very close paraphrase) in reference to Bush's "fixing" evidence for war in Iraq. But I can't quite remember the context (I think it was either in a stump speech, or a debate), and a Google search has come up empty.

Is my mind playing tricks on me, or does any one else remmeber him saying this, too? I'm only asking for the sake of my sanity...

I do remember, around the time of the election, Democrat websites with that plastered all over them. But I don't recall it being attributed to anyone, either the Doctor or John Kerry or otherwise.

Hmmm... my memory has been replaying the image of John Kerry saying those words, while standing at a podium... Though perhaps he used the word "awkward" rather than "uncomfortable"...
