Three wishes --- for someone else.
Oct. 6th, 2005 03:13 pmOkay, this can either be a meme, or a conversation starter, or just my rambling to myself, whatever. But I've been thinking:
If you could make three wishes, for someone else, what would they be?
And no wishing for things like "Peace on Earth" or "A cure for all diseases." That's too easy. Three wishes for a specific person.
As for myself:
I have some wishes for that guy Michael (whom my aide also works for):
1) I wish for him to have the access to technology that would allow him to communicate independently (right now, he has a voice synthesizer, but he depends on others to hand it to him, and his mother won't do that if she thinks he'll say something she won't like).
2) I wish for him to get the opportunity to make friends among a group of his peers, beyond his mother, grandfather, and aides who come to the house.
And the biggie:
3) I wish he could get into a creative writing workshop, so he could learn how to tell his own story, and tell it well -- beyond the "tell your own story" way that happens in mental health groups -- that pirate story, or or a warrior quest story, or whatever (and if he really wants to tell his factual autobiography, that would be okay, too).
