- It's been far too long since the last Pro-Fun Troll Hoedown.
- I'm tired of ditzing about in my own head, trying to decide the best format for the next Hoedown.
- It's been a damned stressful week, here, if I, myself, say so, and I need to escape into some of my more joyful alter-egos.
- Therefore, I am hereby making an exucutive / hostess decision to revamp
pro_fun and transform it into a TARDIS ballroom / barn floor, and sweep it out for a Role-playing, free-for-all, Doctor Who-themed, cross-over, fictional party. - I will soon post a "plot recap" of the 4 previous Hoedowns, so newcomers to my F'list will know what the heck I'm talking about, here.
That is all.
(Well, not quite all: new and old friends can check out the Pro-Fun Round Robins central for a clue while waiting for that recap post).

Date: 2006-01-21 10:20 am (UTC)I mean, do we really NEED a format? When we tried that, it just sort of got messy.

Date: 2006-01-21 12:23 pm (UTC)I suspect she's pretty much discarded the idea of trying to have the /party/ adhere to a certain format thanks to the messy situation mentioned. We're not likely to go down /that/ route again.
(...You /and/ SG? Now /that's/ going to be interesting...)

Date: 2006-01-21 05:45 pm (UTC)Exactly so. I'm not even sure how an LJ-based Hoedown would work (Do people make a journal for each character or avatar they're bringing to the party, or just write their scenes as themselves? Should people be members of the community in order to post? Should we allow annoymous posting? etc., etc.). But I've decided to stop worrying about all that and just start it and see what happens.

Indeed. In fact, I'm strongly tempted to enact one last homage to Lewis Carroll's Alice books and just write off all of Hoedown (Quadrille) 4 as one of Eloise's wierder dreams.

Date: 2006-01-21 06:09 pm (UTC)Could I ask that you not go through with that? Graham Woodland and myself are working on a story that addresses some of the loose threads from the Quadrille (and perhaps from earlier Hoedowns, if I read Gray's hints in our discussions correctly).
Since both Gray and myself have got our established protagonists caught up in the story (or in general high errantry)... well, that gives me the chance to introduce someone new for /this/ Hoedown.
I don't know if Gray's going to be able to get involved this time, though.

Date: 2006-01-21 07:23 pm (UTC)I mean, just because it's a dream, doesn't mean it has to be only a dream.
It's just that the gathering #4 is a rather sore spot with me, and I still haven't worked up the strength to go back and read the whole thing to find out what happened. Having Eloise only remember vague bits, as one would remember an odd and vivid dream, would be much healthier for my psyche, you see.

Date: 2006-01-21 07:46 pm (UTC)I think part of this is because I'm seeing this time as a chance to start afresh, and perhaps strike out in new directions. Sort of 'put it behind us and move on'.

Date: 2006-01-21 08:33 pm (UTC)Indeed. Perhaps "Strike it from the continuity, but keep it in the cannon"? Which, now that I think about it, puts it in same catagory as the rest of Doctor Who. One, two, and three are important (at least to me), however, for giving us our basic universe -- the characters of Sweetheart and Estandre, especially.

Hi, Ann!
Date: 2006-01-22 02:14 am (UTC)...Was I one of the reasons it's a sore spot for you? If I was, I'm really, really sorry. I know my plotline was really stupid and had (almost) nothing to do with anyone else's, and I understand that I was a bad round robin poster. I apologize to everyone involved.
That said, will you give me another chance? Since the last party ended, I've started college and become much more mature than I was then. I really would like to come to the next Joyful Troll party - and this time, I won't bring a date. May I come and try it again? Please?
Re: Hi, Ann!
Date: 2006-01-22 04:44 am (UTC)The combination of those two things, plus, a bout of depression, that was partly independent of the quadrille, was just deadly.
I'm not going to plan anything in advance, this time, and the other writer has made it clear he doesn't want anything to do with LJ. So we should be "safe." (Fingers crossed)
