The Jetlag cure
Feb. 10th, 2006 05:54 amOver the past several weeks, I've basically given myself jetlag: staying up till gradually later and later hours, and either not getting enough sleep, or sleeping until the middle of the day. Yesterday, I went to bed at 5 am, and didn't wake up until after 1 pm; I didn't get up until after 2. My aide came in at 3, and I still hadn't even started breakfast yet..
So it's hardly surprising when midnight took me by surprise. It felt like noon.
I was all ready to finally k-nock myself out and force myself to sleep at 4:30 am, when I said to myself: "Hell! I'm hungry, and it's closer to breakfast hour than bedtime!"
So today, I am going to try and force myself to stay awake until at least 9 pm, then zonk out and sleep for 12-13 hours. That will be a step toward normal human diurnal-ness. After all, my aide comes in on Monday around 11:30 in the morning, and she like to come earlier than later... If I give myself 4 days, I might have a chance of at least having had my morning coffee when she arrives... (She's one of those people who are hard to keep up with, without coffee).
This is just to warn you, in case I spam my flist all day....
