Your Candy Heart Says "Get Real"

You're a bit of a cynic when it comes to love.
You don't lose your head, and hardly anyone penetrates your heart.

Your ideal Valentine's Day date: is all about the person you're seeing (with no mentions of v-day!)

Your flirting style: honest and even slightly sarcastic

What turns you off: romantic expectations and "greeting card" holidays

Why you're hot: you don't just play hard to get - you are hard to get

I wouldn't call "high standards" "Cynical," would you? I think love for another person is one of the most powerful and important things in this life. I'm just not interested in playing romance as if it were a game. Does that make me a cynic, or a true romantic?

It must say something about my flist (or maybe not) that this is the only result I've seen so far... Either that, or something about this quiz.

I think it's the quiz. What can you really tell from five questions, especially when one of them is about how much you like Valentine's Day? Although I love my husband deeply, I hate Valentine's Day (either you're single and feel left out and alone, or you're with someone and feel obligated to perform some sort of romantic act) and am not one for big romantic gestures. I prefer the small kindnesses and thoughtful acts that show someone's really thinking of you on a regular basis.

It was okay in grade school... any time taken out of academics to play with construction paper, scissors and glue is good time...

I had forgotten momentarily about grade school. I actually find that even creepier. What's the point of forcing kids to go through this ritual of giving valentine's cards to everyone in their class? Or did you not have to do that?

Yeah.... it is kinda creepy, especially since V'day has very strong sexual overtones...

I kinda remember giving cards to everyone in my class -- those little store-bought penny ones.

But mostly, I remember taking the time out so we could make cards for our parents. I guess I just blocked out all the bits I didn't like, and remembered the stuff I did.

V'day in College was a a mixed bag for me: I was single, so for that, I felt left out, but on the other hand, it was the middle of February, and I'd have just been navigating my chair through mounds of greying, half-frozen slush, and I'd come into the school and be surrounded by people handing out pink carnations to every passerby (A remnant of that grade school thing?), and go into the mailroom filled with bouquets of bright red roses and baby's breath, for those folks lucky enough to have sweeties.

So that was cheering, as long as I thought about the general atmosphere, and didn't dwell on the fact that I was just a spectator...
