This NSA Phone Records thing...
May. 12th, 2006 02:09 pmBy the wrath of the Gods!
This week, USA Today reported that the National Security Agency has been collecting the phone records of 80% of all Americans, as was "leaked" to them by a member of Congress. Yesterday, I heard some Republican complain that the reason Bush doesn't disclose his security plans to Congress -- because they "leak." Today, I heard a Republican pundit complain that USA Today only ran that story this week because Hayden, who came up with the program, is about to appointed head of the CIA -- as if that were a bad thing. That same pundit reminded listeners that certain members of Congress had been briefed about the program.
... He failed to remind people that they'd been sworn to secrecy, and were forbidden from talking about it, even with their colleagues.
Excuse me, but that's exactly how to not do checks and balances.
And then, I saw a headline that Daddy Bush and Dubya Bush want Jeb to run for president.
Where is the America I was Promised in my Fourth Grade Civics Class?!?!?!?!?!?
