Yikes! 'Merkin Politics!
Jun. 17th, 2006 04:13 pmI keep hearing talk (and apparently serious talk) of Hillary Clinton being a possible presidential candidate in 2008.
The first time I heard it (iirc) was in the ravings of Rush Limbaugh, back in 2004, and I thought he was just feeding his own anti-Clinton paranoia.
I still think that's what it is, even when I'm hearing "Senator Clinton" together with "Democratic presidential candidate" together in the same sentence, even when that sentence is coming from the lips of a news pundit of relative sanity.
Here's why:
But I keep hearing the talk, and it seems like she's a given candidate, at least in the Democratic primary campaigns in '08. Am I missing something?

Here's why:
- She's an intelligent woman.
- She's been a lightning rod for Republican Hate before, just by being an outspoken first lady with the wrong hairdo; that hate hasn't gone anywhere (If you thought the anti-Kerry "Swift Boat" campaign was ugly....).
- She's seen the job of POTUS up close, and knows exactly how dirty it is, and, being an intelligent woman, I can't imagine how she could want the job.
And finally, the biggest reason of all:
