Last night, one of the catagories Jeopardy! (an American quiz gameshow) was "Doctor Whom." No questions answers about our Doctor ('twas famous doctors in history and fiction), but the writers like to make up cute catagory titles that 90% of the couch potatos would get a giggle out of.

Date: 2006-07-08 03:46 pm (UTC)Of course, the questions within the catagories are usually meant to be super obscure or tricky things that only really smart people would know. That clue was almost proof, at that point, that Doctor Who was still just a wierd British thing, that only cultured people who watch PBS knew anything about.
To be in a catagory title means you've arrived. I think that's thanks to the Sci-Fi Channel picking up the new series, and getting good ratings. And even people who don't watch the show would see the name in their TV Guides.
