For one thing, there've been 3 big snowstorms at my old house since November, and Dad's just plum tuckered from all the damned shovelling... and then there's the fear that a) he won't be able to get down the driveway, or b) if he gets down, and it snows during the 4 days he's with me, he won't be able to get back up. And then, there's the fact that the 11th is predicted to be the coldest night of the year, and our elderly dog Lucky Sunshine Baby (yes, that's her full name -- a pro-fun beastie if ever there was one!) has got arthritis and tendon problems in her back legs, and it's been getting harder for her to go in and out of the doggy door, and Dad doesn't want to leave her in the cold like that... and I agree with him, of course... So he'll try to make it next Saturday...

Boy, it's been some winter, huh? Even the thunderstorm down here last night left a coating of the white stuff on the ground before it finished -- just a coating, mind, and it's already melting in the sunny patches... But still, we don't usually see this kind of thing until February...
:::Sigh::: sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have a birthday in July or August, when I don't have to dress in seven layers of clothing to go to the party, and there's not much doing holiday-wise anyway.
Heh, going through old family slides, we could always tell which ones were of my birthdays, 'cause I'd be in my pajamas, with a red nose and a box of tissues at hand: "Must be a birthday picture -- Ann's got a cold again!" ;-). At least I got to spend my birthdays home from school...
BTW, for the anorak-wearers out there: I was born almost exactly 24 hours after the second episode Doctor Who Serial B first aired on Terrestrial TV -- the episode where the Daleks made their first appearance (Dad said he'd check my birth certificate when he gets the chance, to double check the time -- it might have been exactly exactly). You think maybe that has some cosmic significance to my personality -- just like the "alignment of the stars and planets"? ;-)
