Just a wee little update...
Jan. 14th, 2003 11:15 amSince I haven't posted in a few days...
I had a nice, quiet birthday weekend -- just hanging out with dad. And helping him come to a decision to take in a family cat....
The story, from the beginning:
"Josie" started out in life as my cousin's Toni's cat... but my cousin is allergic to cats, and lives with a S.O. who has near zero tolerance for any four-legged critters, so my aunt Jean took the cat in.
Josie lived with aunt Jean for about 10 years
A couple of years ago, aunt Jean died of lung cancer (Don't use tobacco, kids!), leaving Josie behind with an elderly widower (Uncle Bill) that doesn't really care for cats.
Earlier this autumn, another cousin sold his house, and with his two daughters and their two cats.
In reaction, Josie has shown her displeasure by sh---ing on the beds.
Uncle Bill and invading cousins called Toni and asked her to take Josie back.
But Toni still has allergies, and still lives with that S.O., so she can't...
Conclusion they come to: What else is there to do, except take Josie to the vet and "put her to sleep"? (yeah, right... that's all it is! :-P).
Dad comes down Saturday night, and relates this whole sad saga to me.
My reaction: "That's totally, and damnedly unfair -- Not Josie's fault her world's been invaded!"
Dad's reaction: "That's right." (pause) "Hey, why don't I take her?" (or something to that effect)...
The upshot: by the end of this week, our family will have a new four-legged member (Named for my Grandmother, btw)
A happier start to the new year than would otherwise be...
