Oooh, Shiny! Shiny News!

Today, I updated my user profile, pruning my bio and expanding my interests lists (That's the unshiny, dull bit). As part of that process, I included a link to the NaNoWriMo homepage (now we're getting closer to the shiny bit).

Out of curiosity, I just now clicked the link, and found this bit of shiny news:

I've never written a screenplay before, and I've only dabbled in playwriting, in general, as part of a large collaboration. But, right now, I'm tempted to try it. For one thing, I'm feeling the need to try something new, and collaboration will be encouraged, and movies and T.V. are the cultural medium of this generation, the way novels were a century ago, but really aren't any longer. And I've got ideas.

Should I go for it?

Anyone want to go for it with me?

Though, in the same NaNoWriMo spirit, I should probably not think about any ideas for the movie until right before the time to start it...

I highly recommend Syd Field's Screenplay book. He's a crusty old codger, but putting up with what he has to tell you leaves you more free to write a movie afterwards, because you start to see *why* he wrote what he did.
