You know the song "Lemon tree" -- The one Peter, Paul, and Mary made famous? It's got a catchy tune and all, but the lyrics are complete twaddle:
"Lemon tree very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet,
But the fruit of that poor lemon is impossible to eat."
Excuse Me, But: Impossible?
Ever hear of Lemon-ade? Lemon custard? Poached Trout with Lemon?
Okay, so picking a lemon off the tree and biting into as if it were an apple would be diffecult -- but far from impossible. Anyone who believes so is a wimp of the highest order -- probably rewrites his will every time he stubs his toe.
Just for your edification, here are the lyrics to the last verse:
One day she left without a word, she took away the sun
And in the dark she left behind I knew what she had done
She left me for another, it's a common tale but true
A sadder man, but wiser, now I sing these words to you:
(that chorus)
Gee. She finally left him for another man. I wonder why. He claims to be wiser, but I doubt it.
