Side note: there's a rumor going around that he's fallen off the wagon. I'm not sure I really believe this, but it's evidence that many people think he's looking tired. (this is not part of the meme, just an add-on)

The Mars rover "Spirit" landed on Mars on January 3rd, 2004. The rover "Opportunity" landed shortly afterward.

All the experts told us that the life expectancy of these brave little robots was 90 days. ... 730 days later, they're both still going. Maybe they're not going as strong as they were when they were young (arthitis in a shoulder joint, and a bum wheel), but they are still going.

Kinda nice, I think...
