Got back from the library (had to use their computer center to print something up), and a lightbulb went off; I thought I'd try booting up in "Step by Step Confirmation" mode. I said "Yes" to everything except any file that looked like it was associated with Symantic Nortorn Security.

And shore 'nuff, as long as the computer ignored those files, everything else is running smoothly (except I get a warning message every so often that Norton Security is not available... how do you give a computer a dope slap?).

So, now, I have to figure out how to clean Norton out of my system, and replace it. Any tips?

Okay... off to post my [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo things for day 8 and day 9. I haven't done day 10, yet... can't decide if I want to do a life study of a pine cone I picked up yesterday, or a sketch from memory of Trixie doing her squee stretch ('Manda doesn't do "squee").

Fought with depression, that day, and the depression almost won, but I beat it back with legalistic arguments and NaArMaMo. Still, I wanted to do something that would express how I was really feeling/thinking.

So this right hand (symbolising my capacity to act, and give to others) is all jagged and broken in the middle. Surrounding that, the multiple, flowing lines represent my attempt to find harmony and creativity in spite of that jagged, broken, center.

That same blue watercolor pencil, again, on that same watercolor paper. The crayon marks are left over from the pic I did on Day 2.

I got the idea for this one while doing the picture for Day 8. I wanted to do a highly stylised "primative" pair of cupped hands, where the hands were reduced to their essential, geometric elements. Then, I wanted to make a cartoon-style "hole" in the middle of that image, with a dark/stormy landscape behind it. Two things happened:
  1. I waffled on the balance between stylised and realistic, and

  2. Forgot about making the hole when I was inking it in, and put the line in where I shouldn't have.

So I just colored it/shaded it as I'd intended to draw a straight picture of cupped hands, in the first place. Interestingly, the point of illumination is coming from something invisible in the hands... may be my subconscious trying to say something.
