The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather for this area (but mostly, for North Carolina), starting at midnight, and lasting till noon.

There was a news crawl across the bottom of the screen, earlier, that warned that, because the air temperature was going to stay below freezing, anything that fell would stick to the ground.

Um, no. That's not how it works. In order for the snow to stick to the ground, it's the ground that has to be freezing, or below. And until this current cold snap (which just started today), it's been in the 40s and 50's for over a week.

The white stuff will stay white all the way to the ground, and it may even stay white on rooftops and tree branches. But the ground is a heat sink, and it's got an enormous amount of warmth stored. So the snow will melt when it hits the blacktop.

...Still, better warn people for the worst, I guess, since we don't want even more clueless people out on the roads in messy weather.

...Going to bed, now.

Just watch. When I wake up in the morning, the ground will be covered in snow (just to prove me wrong, I bet!).
