This is a party song that has been in my family for as long as I can remember; It was sung at nearly every family gathering, winter or summer, in my early years. My uncle Arthur (now passed on) probably learned it in college, at some fraternity comedy revue, or somesuch, but we don't know for sure.
The other night, there was a documentary on quirky Mom and Pop ice cream shops across America, and I couldn't help but start singing this song (how could anyone, really?). It's been stuck in my head ever since. Unfortunately, I'm not good enough with music to translate the tune in my head to a musical score. If LJ has a local phone number for voice posts, I may sing it for you all, later, myself... Maybe. ... if someone plies me with ice cream. ;-)

'twas yummy.
