It's been a very head deasky sort of week, it has... I was about to upload Friday's naart for [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo, but my photo program froze... so I went to reboot, and in the middle of rebooting, my monitor "faded to white," just like a movie effect, and stayed there. I thought my computer had finally died, as it is well over 6 years old, and my monitor was brand new. I had to wait until Tuesday to go shopping, but I got a new computer, with 200 gig, and a dvd drive, and everything ("everything" = pinball and freecell)... 'tis very shiny.

But when we went to turn it on, the monitor still didn't work... it was the monitor that was broken, after all (and then I discovered that my right front wheel was as flat as a pancake, luckily, the repair people make housecalls, for a fee; the repair man came and left just before my aide got here for monitor shopping. ) So I just got back from monitor shopping, and my new monitor is shiny, too ('tis widescreen, so I can watch dvds with the proper ratio)... Both computer and monitor are dearer than I initially expected, but I also expect that I will be much happier with my equipment, in the long run.

I've been keeping up with [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo -- all except Sunday, when I felt overwhelmed by my chosen subject (a life drawing of a pinecone). But I did 2 naarts yesterday to catch up... Unfortunately, it seems I need to reinstall the driver on my scanner, and my desk has been all rearranged, and it will take a while to find the right disk -- argh! But I will upload everything to my NaArMaMo Gallery as soon as I've got everything sorted....

I was just asking if anyone had heard from you and Bren pointed me towards the post on Naarmamo which I'd missed and yay on new computer and new monitor and I'm glad nothing really bad had happened and stuff.

I logged on, and found 209 emails waiting for me; luckily, I managed to find yours amid the clutter, and replied. But of course, by the time you read this, you will probably already have read that...

I hope you didn't junk the old computer before you realized it hadn't been the problem.

No... it's sitting in my closet, looking out at me rather forlornly... eventually, I will get my aide to set it up temporarily, so I can email certain key file folders to this machine. Fortunately, I think I can recover all the stuff I'm really proud of, because all the stuff I'm really proud of I've shared online... I will say this: the new machine is so much quieter -- I can hardly hear it running. That's a sign that technology has improved vastly in the last 6 years...

Yay you are back!:):) It was very strange having naarmamo without you. Look forward to seeing your naarts.

Yes, I am feeling yayful... and it was very strange for me not to be able to check in on what other naarmamals were doing... May take a while for me to post pics, but I will reply for the week, and try to describe what I did...
