...for Dad's cremation, this morning. No return envelope; they want the papers taken down to the local Kinkos and faxed, with the originals mailed back via Fed Ex. It would be so much easier if I could drive, or had a fax machine (or if they had included a return overnight envelope). But as it is, I will have to wait for my aide to get here, after 4. I need the signature of a witness, anyway... At least, I have an aide. What do people do who are truly alone? It's a headscratcher.
In the meantime, would anyone else care to (virtaually) join me in the singing of Doctor Price (he was a mad Welsh Pagan from a hundred years ago, who got cremation legalized in Britain)?

Date: 2006-11-21 07:27 pm (UTC)http://www.tpc.int/fax_cover_auto.html is the list of area codes that it covers.
and you can email it to:
To send a fax by e-mail, send a message
To: remote-printer.info@phonenumber.iddd.tpc.int
Where contains information for the cover page. In , "/" is turned into a line break and "_" is turned into a space. For example:
To: funeralhome@12025551234.iddd.tpc.int
I've used it before, and it seems to work pretty decent, but it's dependent on where they have coverage.
Other than that, there is another service, but you're limited to 1 file, and it has to be a DOC or PDF file. (Maximum 3 pages, and the cover page will be an advertisement)
That's: http://faxzero.com/

Date: 2006-11-22 07:09 am (UTC)You know, I've been thinking that I need a musical/singing LJ icon for a long time, now... I was thinking of doing an animated one (a skill I'd like to learn anyhow) of notes on a musical staff, with the words to a song.... maybe. And I think the chorus of that song is a perfect accompaniment to a jolly LJ rant.
BTW, what's ach a fi! mean?

Date: 2006-11-22 08:10 am (UTC)As for ych... basically, it sounds pretty much onomonopoetic- "ych", "yuck", "yech", all being the same spitting/spewing noise you make when you spit out disgusting food..
For a while, I was wondering if it was a legal proclamation, or something.
Personally, I think Dad would have liked Dr. Price a lot. He had a mad uncle Donald, who walked around Vermont, in the summer, completely forgetting to wear any clothes...
