Btw, remember that post and poll about Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream flavors?

Well, I sent the first flavor idea in, because that's the one that I liked best, and my vote counts for two of each of yours (sorry, but it does). That flavor idea was: Orange ice cream with almond praline, and both dark and white chocolate chunks.

And I gave it the name El Dorado Road (golden version of "Rocky Road). Chances are, they won't use it. This was just being submitted to their "slush pile" (an even more accurate term for an ice cream company than a publishing house). They have paid staff who come up with most of their flavors. But it was fun to think up the flavor combinations, and the name for it.

nexstarman and I were just talking about Ben & Jerry's. O wise flavour guru, what would you put in an ice cream called 'Jamaican Me Crazy'? He suggested rum, and I was thinking of mangoes. Maybe something with coconut.

Oh, and inspired by this question, I went googling for Jamaican desserts, to see if I could find any recurrant flavors. Mostly, their desserts are just fruit with a syrup (w/rum, of course). But I did find one Jamaican version of Christmas plum pudding, with lime. And another favorite. mashed papaya with rum raisin ice cream ... I don't like raisins in my ice cream, myself, but I could easily go for a papaya, lime and version of a creamcicle.

Papayas are notoriously hard to warehouse, though, so I doubt a big commericial operation in very un-tropical Vermont would pick that up.
