The only movie I'd seen out of the whole bunch was Happy Feet. But based on the clips they showed, the movies that looked really interesting were the "animated short films."
So here's my idea for my next life: have a pre-oscar viewing party to get together with friends and watch all the "shorts" nominations in one marathon: The animated films, the live-action fiction, and the Documentary short subject.
What do you think?
I think that would be fun, myself...
nearly 4 am. am toddling off to bed now, honest.

Date: 2007-02-26 06:16 pm (UTC)But, while we were in the theater waiting for Happy Feet to start, we were inundated with about half an hour of non-stop commericials. I felt insulted, and couldn't help thinking that I might as well have been watching at home, on TV.
I know the theaters want to make as much money as they can, but, at least for the month or two before the Oscars, I'd love it if they went back to the old-fashioned habit of showing the nominated shorts before the feature -- and then, do small commericial breaks between them. If the theater advertised that they were doing this, I bet they'd get a higher ratio of eyeballs to advertisements, anyway, and could probably charge more for the ads they do show...
...oh, if only I ran the world!
